The delegation from the University of Houston UH visited HUST at invitation on October 28th, 2009. The five delegates are Dr. Haluk Ogmen, Dean of Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Dr. Chen Ji, an alumnus of Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, HUST, Dr. Hamid R. Parsaei, Dean of Department of Industrial Engineering, and his wife, Prof. Gangbin Song from Department of Mechanics, UH. On Dr. Chen Ji`s vigorous recommendation, the team came to recruit excellent fourth year students as recommended PhD candidates with full scholarships.
Upon their arrival in the morning, the delegation had a face-to-face meeting with officials from Academic Affairs Office, International Exchange Center, Graduate School of HUST GSHUST , Qi'ming School, School of Mechanical Science and Engineering and the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering. Student representatives of related schools and departments also attended the meeting.
In the afternoon, the delegates split into two groups, heading to the School of Mechanical Science and Engineering and the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering respectively, making an in-depth introduction of their university to the students. Eight students, four from each school, were offered full scholarships to study at University of Houston. Besides, the intention to cooperate was declared on visiting scholars and China Scholarship Coucil CSC projects. Both parties expressed their willingness for a long-term, extensive collaboration and communication in the future.
