Mr Lee Woo Sing Appointed as Honorary Professor

On the morning of November 8th , Mr Lee Woo Sing, Hong Kong eminent entrepreneur, director of Grand Finance Group Company Ltd and director of Grand Investment International Ltdcompany Ltd , permanent Chairman of the Shanghai Fraternity Association Hong Kong Ltd, was appointed as HUST s honorary professor. The ceremony was held in the auditorium of the Building 8. Academician Yang Shuzi conferred the appointment letter on Mr Lee .

Lu Gang, chairman of the University board, expressed his congratulations to Mr Lee. He said, Mr. Lee, who is respected in Hong Kong Financial community, has been engaged in the financial industry for 60 years. He has done great contribution to the financial industry of HK , mainland and the world.

During Asian s Financial turmoil , Mr. Lee and his company was elected by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as one of the few security houses to resist foreign capital. Mr. Lee is committed to education development, and has founded the Lee Woo Sing College in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Lu Gang hoped Mr Lee s appointment as Honorary professor could accelerate the growth of the School of Economics.

In addition, Mr. Lee is a renowned Peking opera fan, who has devoted in promoting Peking opera in Hong Kong and mainland s universities for many years. It is also believed that he can promote HUST s Peking Opera.

Lee expressed that he was honored to be appointed honorary professor and to be invited to visit HUST. Lee indicated that though HUST is famous for engineering and medicince, it also has very strong humanistic climate , and has established the Peking opera society as well. He encouraged young people to get to understand more about Peking opera, which is a very beautiful part of Chinese culture.
