At 19:30, Sept. 14, a marvelous show called Dance-America was held in the theater of Meishi Film Academy of Chongqing University (CQU). Libin, deputy director of International Office of CQU, Chen Dong, secretary of Meishi Film Academy CPC Committee, Executive vice Dean Lu Xuegong, Vice Dean Yang Shanghong and Deputy Secretary Li Yangmo of Meishi Film Academy, etc. watched the show and welcomed the dancers.

The 10 excellent dancers of USA Pavilion are selected from hundreds of dancers all over America, most of who have the dancing age of more than 15 years. Among them, some are experienced and some are new stars of Broadway, but they are all active dancers in America.
First, Secretary Chen Dong gave a welcome speech in both Chinese and English. At the beginning of the show, as the host, students from Meishi Film Academy put on carefully-arranged dances including Tibet Tap, Sword Dance, Street Dance, etc. They integrated eastern and western cultural elements with the features of the times, played freely and excellently on the platform and let American dancers see the dancing skills of Chinese students, which were warmly welcomed by foreign friends.

Later on, the delegation of the Dance-America also gave their wonderful performance. Without decorations for the platform, these dancers formed a funny and lively show consisting of Disco, Hip-hop, Latin Dance, Tap Dance and Jitterbug, through which, they told the audience about the development of different ages of America and the stories with the cultural background of different American cities. These classic American dances together with the beautiful costume, making the audience seemingly in another space and time to see America in former days. Though they did not understand each other s languages, dance was an art which could transcend boundaries of language and culture. The passionate dance, unrestrained rhythm and excellent skills raised the ceaseless applause and cheering of the audience. This performance full of passion infected the audience and the atmosphere was really enthusiastic. During the break, the award-winning question was held and American friends sent presents to students of CQU whose answers were correct. This not only increased students knowledge on American culture, enhanced the friendship and the cultural communication between China and America, but also provided a good learning chance for students of CQU, especially for students of the Meishi Film Academy.
After the performance, those foreign dancers also interacted with the on-site audience, passionately answered the audience s questions, and also expressed their understanding and opinion towards China and Chongqing. Their humorous words won a round of applause.

In the end, the leaders of Meishi Film Academy gave some presents to American dancers and took photos with our college s participant students. The activity of Dance-America aims to make Chinese college students enjoy American culture, learn American traditional dance s charm, interact with American artists and absorb foreign culture s nutrition without going abroad or going to Shanghai Expo through American famous dancers entering Chinese universities and colleges. It also aims to provide a cultural exchange platform for enhancing American and Chinese people s friendship and develop intercultural communication with Shanghai Expo as the link. Through the activity of Dance-America entering Chongqing University, people with different cultural background can gather here for performance, communication and interaction. Both the two sides have shown their strong wish for further communication and understanding.
