Prof. Ou Keping, Chairman of the University Council, Meets Russian Sinologists

On Sept. 17, 2010, a delegation of 8 Russian sinologists led by Professor . . , an academician of Russian Academy of Science (RAS) and the chief researcher of the Institute of Far East Studies visited Chongqing University (CQU) and they were warmly welcomed by CQU. Ou Keping, Chairman of the University Council, together with Prof. Zhao Chengping, director of International Office and Jiang Yan, deputy dean of the College of International Education and Communication, met all the members of the delegation.

Professor . . , 82 years old, chairman of Russian Confucius Fund, was the translator of the Russian versions of Four Books and Analects of Confucius, which were presented to Chairman Hu Jintao by Putin, president of Russia during his visit in China. Other members of the delegation included Professor . . , an academician of RAS, vice-chairman of Russia-China Friendship Association, who was also the translator of the Russian version of Tao Te Ching and the associate editor of the Russian version of Encyclopedia of Chinese Culture, and once won the Outstanding Contribution Award of 60th Anniversary for Relationship between China and Russia conferred by Chairman Hu Jintao, and Professor B. H. , director of the Research Center of Modern Chinese History of RAS and the author of the Russian monograph of Deng Xiaoping. And all the members are famous sinologists in Russia. These sinologists presented their translation works to Prof. Ou Keping, including Encyclopedia of Chinese Culture, Russian monograph of Deng Xiaoping, Russian versions of Four Books, Analects of Confucius, Tao Te Ching, Confucius and Confucianism, and Zhou Dunyi s Works and Research, etc. Prof. Ou thanked Russian sinologists for their excellent contribution to propagating Chinese culture and hoped that sinologists visit could promote the global popularization of Chinese language and culture, the academic exchange and cooperation between CQU and Russian Sinology field, and also attract more Russian students to come to CQU for further study.
