Sponsored by China National Academy of Painting, the National Art Museum of China and China Artists Association, an art retrospective exhibition, entitled Pursuit ? Innovation , is currently on display in commemoration of the 95th birthday anniversary of Lai Shaoqi, at Hall 4, 6 and 8 since May 7 until May 18, 2010. The exhibition combines the artistic quality with the feature of documents, comprising a total of 170 works of his masterpieces from the period of emerging woodcarving movement to his later age. The show comprises a wide range of categories from woodcarving, landscape, flowers and calligraphy. The exhibition is hoped to reflect the remarkable achievements of the master and provide an overview of his revolutionary experience and artistic journey.
Lai Shaoqi is a celebrated master in the contemporary Chinese artistic history and one of the pioneers of New woodcarving movement . He was devoted to the revolutionary artistic work for more than six decades and was loyal to the party and the people. With confidence in the Chinese artistic cause, the artist showed a sincere heart as a communist party member and an artist. Lai Shaoqi is accomplished and successful, especially in the fields of printmaking and the Chinese painting.
