Hawaiian Airlines now plans to buy 16 new AirbusA330-200 as opposed to the earlier announced ten.
A recent announcement from the carrier stated that the airline has exercised its rights to acquire six new aircraft, with an additional four purchase rights remaining, according to a report in eTravel Blackboard.
The new aircraft will be delivered between 2012-2015, with the first two jets scheduled for 2011. With this order, the airline can accommodate 30-passengers more per flight, as compared to its existing fleet of Boeing 767-300ERs.
Hawaiian has also placed orders for six new, fuel-efficient A350XWB-800 aircraft from Airbus, the first of these scheduled to arrive in 2017.
