Scotland has launched Active Scotland , a programme that outlines year-long events and activities that exhibits the best the country has to offer the world. Visitors and residents alike gathered on January 1 to kick start the campaign with the Scottish capital s renowned One o Clock run.
Active Scotland takes after the success of previous programmes Homecoming 2009 and the Year of Food and Drink , which will still run till May this year. Jim Mather, tourism minister, Scottish Government, was quoted in eTurboNews as having said that through the year of the new campaign in 2011, the tourism industry will work together to promote the vast range of activities Scotland has to offer.
