The Philippines expects an increase in foreign visitor arrivals upon implementation of the open skies policy.
Alberto A Lim, secretary, Tourism, was quoted in eTravel Blackboard as having said that the open skies policy is one that would promote competition among airlines and, in the process, bring down the fare rates. The new policy is deemed to not only generate more revenue in the tourism sector but would also create new jobs as additional personnel are needed to handle the increased traffic in immigration and customs departments.
