The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Kolkata will host matches in this year s World Cup at the Eden Gardens stadium.
The ICC however switched the venue of the India and England match on February 27 to take place in Bengaluru instead of Kolkata. Haroon Lorgat, chief executive, ICC, was quoted in Travel Daily India as having said that they felt Kolkata would not be ready by February 27 but that the city had every opportunity to be ready for the matches in March.
The ICC has also confirmed that the World Cup final on April 2 will take place in Mumbai s Wankhede stadium.
