Positively Wellington Tourism (PWT) has seen a 5.5% spike in the number of Australians visiting Wellington in 2010.
There were a recorded 17,980 Australians who visited the New Zealand capital in December 2010. The growth in Australian tourist arrivals is attributed to the success of the There s No Place Like Wellington advertising campaign which was specifically targetted for the Sydney market. David Perks, chief executive, PWT, was quoted in eTravel Blackboard as having said that Wellington was proving attractive and that the campaign was effective. PWT has used tactical offers with the region s culinary and cultural stories to drive short-term visitation and to build a long-term brand.
PWT has also reported a 90% increase in Australians visiting the WellingtonNZ.com website.
