205 enterprises in Dongguan have been warned by the city's environmental protection watchdog for getting "yellow cards" or "red cards" in a recent environmentally friendly credit rating.
Dongguan, an export hub in South China, has been trying hard to advocate clean production since last few years. |
The 205 enterprises, all from polluting industries such as power generation, papermaking, dyeing and electroplating, have failed to get "green cards" in a recent credit rating which is based on their environmental pollution behaviors in 2009. 151 of them get "yellow cards", and 54 get "red cards".
For their punishments, those "red cards" enterprises will face suspending of new loans from banks, and are required pay back money the banks have shelled out. For those get "yellow cards", banks will place more and stricter assessments for their loans application.
A mandatory examination for clean production will also be implemented for those enterprises, the environmental protection watchdog said on January 28th.
