The Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the first month in Chinese lunar calendar. This year the Festival falls at Feb. 28th. The Lantern Festival is the night of the first full moon in the Chinese lunar year, symbolizing the return of spring. Galas, lanterns fair and fireworks are held around Dongguan yesterday, turning the city into a sea of the carnival.
The moon for this year's Lantern Festival, which falls on Feb. 28th, has been the biggest of the Year of the Tiger, and has also been the fullest moon on Lantern Festival evening since 1957.
