XJTLU, China, 23rd March On 18th March, student representatives of the XJTLU Chinese Society were invited by the Labour Party to the 2011 Liverpool Parliamentary Team Dinner.

The XJTLU Chinese Society was founded by the university s students studying in the University of Liverpool, UK. Wenlong Gao and Kai Wang, the President and Vice President of this Chinese Society, representing Chinese overseas students in Liverpool, attended the event.
Mr Edward Miliband, Leader of the Labour Party, and former Minister for Energy and Climate Change, together with other Labour Party MPs, Luciana Berger and Stephen Twig, communicated with XJTLU students during the dinner. Mr Edward Miliband asked about the development of XJTLU as well as the students' study and life in the UK. He also expressed his special greetings to all the Chinese students in Liverpool, in particular those from the XJTLU, through the Chinese Society.

Over 600 guests attended this dinner, including the Labour Party MPs and personages of various circles in Liverpool.

The Labour Party is the former ruling party in the UK, whose last Leader, Mr Gordon Brown, was also the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Edward Miliband, one of the most dazzling political stars in the UK, was newly elected as the Leader of the Labour Party in September, 2010.

Chinese Society, formerly known as the XJTLU Society, is the biggest student society set up by XJTLU students in the UK, aiming to serve Chinese students studying in UK and disseminate Chinese culture. It has become one of the most influential student societies at Liverpool.
Kai Wang, vice-president of this Society said: we really appreciate that our university has offered us such a good international platform. We will keep focusing on the dissemination of Chinese culture, to display the mien of XJTLU students on the international stage.
