On the morning of Oct. 15, the 14th National Conference on Catalyzing Studies was held in NJU by the Chinese Chemical Society. Nearly 1000 experts from Chinese universities, research institutes and chemical industry attended this summit. Prof. Guo Zijian, dean of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, presided over the conference.
During the four-day conference, more than ten academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering will be discussing with young and middle-aged scholars all over China the problems and latest developments in catalyst designing, catalyzing mechanism, energy catalyzing, synthetic catalyzing of chemicals, green catalyzing and catalyzing engineering.
Other attendants who gave speeches included Academician Chen Yi, president of the conference, Prof. Hong Yinxing, Secretary of NJU's Party committee and famous economist, Zhu Shanlu, member of the standing committee of the Party committee of Jiangsu and Secretary of the Party committee of Nanjing, Academician Li Can, President of the administrative council of the International Association of he Catalysis Societies, Academician Min Enze, winner of National Supreme Scientific Technology Reward, Dr. Chen Wei, managing director of Shanghai Catalyst Company.
During the ceremony, Academician Li introduced the winners of the Catalyst Achievement Award and the Catalyst Award for Young Scholars. The winners of the two awards are Academician Lin Liwu and Research Fellow Zhang Tao respectively. Scholars who gave speeches on catalyst studies included Academician Lin, Academician Wan Huilin, Academician Ouyang Pingkai from Nanjing University of Technology, Prof. Kou Yuan from Peking University and Research Fellow Bao Xinhe.
Studies on catalyst are playing an important role in the technological development of China, especially in energy, environment, optimal utilization of resources and health. The conference is a good opportunity for exchange of new ideas in this field and can help promote the development of catalyst studies.
Other attendants included Prof. Xu Nanping, Assistant to the Governor of Jiangsu Province and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Lu Wanzhen, Prof. Roel Prins from Eidgenoessische Technische Hochschule Z rich, President of European Federation of Catalysis Societies, and directors from the Nanjing municipal government, the Party committee of Nanjing and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
