On the afternoon of Oct. 20, the signing ceremony and first awarding ceremony of "Zhu Yicai Scholarship" was held at the Pukou Campus of NJU. Liu Xiaoli, Deputy Director from the Development Committee of NJU presided over the ceremony. President Chen Jun and Deputy Secretary Min Tiejun attended the ceremony.
Zhu Yicai, chairman of board of the Yurun Group, signed an agreement with Deputy Secretary Min Tiejun on a 1.5-million-yuan scholarship grant for undergraduates with financial difficulties for five years. After the signing ceremony, Mr. Zhu and leaders of NJU awarded the first 100 undergraduate students the scholarship.
President Chen thanked Mr. Zhu for his generosity and charity. He said that every year 25 percent of NJU's freshmen have financial difficulties, to whom this grant could be a great help, financially as well as spiritually.
The "Zhu Yicai Scholarship Fund" is particularly designed for full-time undergraduates with financial difficulties. For 100 grantees every year, each will receive 3000 yuan. Unlike other scholarships that require excellence, Zhu Yicai Scholarship can be granted to anyone who has financial difficulties.
