On the morning of October 15, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Mike Hounslow of the University of Sheffield visited NJU. Zhang Xuyu, president assistant of NJU, welcomed him at Doujizha.
During Professor Hounslow's visit, Mr. Zhang Xuyu briefly introduced the development of different disciplines and programs, the faculty, the research work and international exchange of NJU. He described in detail the four principal strategies of NJU and the university's research achievements in the fields of nanotechnology, photoelectricity and the environmental science. He hoped that through the exchange of teachers and students between, the two universities can be able to cooperate in more fields.
Professor Hounslow said that the University of Sheffield and NJU share many things in common. He also introduced the programs, the departments, especially the engineering schools, and the strategic development of the University of Sheffield and expressed his hope for cooperation with NJU in the field of engineering. Engineering of the University of Sheffield, which has seven departments and two interdisciplinary centers, ranks the fifth in Britain.
Both sides later carried out in-depth discussions on how to serve the local communities with achievements from the engineering school.
Other participants included directors and teachers from the Center for International Cooperation and Exchange and the physics department of NJU.
