Program of "New Hundred Scholars" kicked off

Write: Vimal [2011-05-20]
From September, more than 130 young and middle-aged scholars at NJU will have the opportunity to apply for the financial support for short-term or long-term research overseas, according to the program of "cultivating young and middle-aged pace-setters in academic research", which is aimed at improving the academic competence of the faculty and promoting international academic exchange.
The long-term program will last 6 to 12 months. The university will send around ten excellent scholars annually to study in first-class overseas universities, research institutions or research seminars. The short-term program will last less than 3 months. Every year about 20 selected candidates will enjoy a 3-year special allowance and a fully sponsored short-term overseas visit or study (no more than 3 months). The applicants for this program should have received the honor of "Talent of the New Century" awarded by the Ministry of Education or have been selected the "Young Academic Leaders" by NJU. A PhD degree, more than 3 years of teaching experience in NJU and sufficient foreign language proficiency is also required. The applicants should attach their research plan to their application form. Particularly, applicants for the long-term program should also attach a detailed research plan for the overseas study that meets the requirements of the university. When the overseas program is over, the university will check the performance of the selected candidates.
