From April 9 to 15 a hundred and twenty Hong Kong students and teachers from more than 20 high schools, together with 20 NJU student volunteers, participated in the 5th Chinese Studies Short Course for Hong Kong Students held by our university. The Hong Kong guests attended lectures on present-day China by five well-known scholars from NJU, visited the High School Affiliated to Nanjing University, some local families, Yangzi Petrochemical Company Ltd. and some famous scenic spots.

NJU Vice President Zhang Rong attended the opening ceremony of the short course and encouraged the Hong Kong students to study hard so as to serve our country and build a better Hong Kong in the future.
Since 2004 our university had held 11 Chinese Studies Short Courses for Hong Kong, Macao and Tai Wan high school and college students, and developed 20 student exchange programs with Taiwan and Hong Kong, which had attracted more than 3,000 students and teachers. In view of NJU s success in holding Chinese Studies Short Courses, the Hong Kong-based Chinese Youth Exchange Center and Hong Kong Youth Institution plan to send more students to our university in late June and early November. The Tertiary Education Services Office of Macao also plans to send over 100 college students to our university for similar educational activities this July and invite five NJU scholars to Macao to give lectures on the national conditions of China.
