Parallel Session of the World Urban Forum 4 Held in NJU

On the morning of Nov. 5, the parallel session of the World Urban Forum 4 named Nanjing in the Yangtze River Delta was held in NJU. The Urban Development Institute of China (in Nanjing) and the Academy of Social Science of Nanjing co-organized the session. Attendants included Zhu Shanlu, member of the standing committee of Party committee of Jiangsu and Secretary of the Party committee of Nanjing, scholars from Beijing, Zhejiang province and Jiangsu province and Ren Lijian, head of the Office of Party Committee of NJU. Prof. Hong Yinxing, Secretary of the Party committee of NJU and President of The Urban Development Institute of China (in Nanjing) presided over the session.

Eight experts gave their speeches during the session, discussing the opportunities and the Functional Positioning of Nanjing. Prof. Liu Zhibiao, Dean of the School of Business of NJU, made a report on the functional positioning of Nanjing in the Yangtze River Delta. He suggested that Nanjing should be the hub linking Northern and Southern China and the center of the northwestern Yangtze River Delta and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Zhang Hongyan, Director of the Center for Urban Sciences of NJU, also reported on the new functional positioning of Najing. He analyzed the development model of Nanjing and suggested that Nanjing combine its good position, comprehensive strength, culture, local features, advantages in science and education to enhance its performance.
