Symposium of "Research and Development of Antimicrobial Agents in China" Held in Nanjing

On Nov. 4, the International Symposium of Research and Development of Antimicrobial Agents in China was held in Nanjing. Scientists and experts from the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Germany, South Africa, Thailand, India, mainland China and Hong Kong participated in the symposium. This was the first time that prestigious international institutions on the R & D of Antimicrobial Agents came to China.

This international symposium was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Medicine and Public Health and was supported by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College.

The symposium was a platform of cooperation, which could help promote the research and development of antimicrobial agents in China. During the symposium, famous specialists in the R & D of anti-HIV/AIDS, anti-STD and antivirus medicine, experts in public health and epidemiology, governmental officials and enterprise representatives gathered together to discuss problems such as HIV/AIDS in China, .prevention and cure of STD in China, the R & D and clinical research of antimicrobial agents and the protection of intellectual property. The history and latest news in the field were also discussed. The Chinese scientists and their foreign counterparts were willing to cooperate in the discovery, research and testing of antimicrobial agents.
