Chongqing University holds grand opening ceremony for 2010 international students

Chongqing University held a grand opening ceremony on September 19, 2010 at Minzhu Lake Lecture Hall to welcome over 200 new students from more than 70 countries. Prof. Li Xiaohong, president of Chongqing University, addressed the ceremony. Vice-president Bai Chenguang acted as a host for the ceremony.

President Li expressed warm welcome for the new students on behalf of the university and gave a brief introduction to the history, current situation and prospects of Chongqing University. Meanwhile, by introducing the remarkable achievements of the overseas students graduated from Chongqing University, Li encouraged the new students to study hard and get a deep understanding on Chinese culture during their stay and lead a successful life when they back, as well as act as a communicator for Chinese culture.
Professor Yang Jun, vice dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration and the foreign teacher of Software School made speeches at the ceremony on behalf of the teachers of the university. They introduced the characteristics of Chongqing and the advantages of Chongqing University and desire that the new students will keep persistent in such a charm city. Besides, all the teachers will give their best help and assistance for their adaptation to the new environment.

Max, a student from Ukraine specialized in law, spoke at the ceremony on behalf of the senior overseas students. He shared his 3-year life in Chongqing University and suggested the new students to sense the cultural differences and similarities and enjoy a happy life in the university with an open mind. Aber, a graduate student from Yemen specialized in architecture, also spoke at the ceremony on behalf of the freshmen. He said that it is very honorable for him to study in such an internationally-known university and he will study hard in the school. At the same time, he will also conform to the laws of China as well as the rules of Chongqing University, keeping a good image for overseas student and being a talent with high quality.

After the ceremony, the related responsible personnel with the Exit-Entry Administration Division of Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau introduced relevant regulations and interviewed on site for visa affairs.
