A record number of international tourists have visited Bethlehem this Christmas season, according to both Israeli and Palestinian officials.
At least 90,000 people are estimated to have passed through the checkpoints, and all 24-hotels in the town have done brisk business, according to a report in eTurboNews.
Although the occasion warrants its own expected security risks, the Israeli government made special security arrangements for the holidays, to ease restrictions on PA Arab movements. These include expedited procedures at the Bethlehem checkpoint as well as special permits for Christian Arabs in Gaza, and additional special visas.
