Accor has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Erawan Group to develop six new ibis hotels and a Mercure hotel in Thailand.
This announcement follows the previous announcement made regarding ten ibis hotels, seven of which are now open for operations. The agreement outlines the plan to build a combined Mercure and ibis hotel complex opposite the MBK Shopping Mall in downtown Bangkok. As stated in the PATA Thailand Chapter newsletter, the development project will feature 190-guest rooms in the Mercure hotel with another 190 slated for the ibis.
At an estimated cost of THB one-million (US$32-million), construction will begin in February this year; the project is expected to be completed at the end of 2012.
