Vice President Hu Zhengrong Went to Singapore to Attend the International Communication Association (ICA) Annual Conference

From June 22th to 25 th, 2010, Vice President Hu Zhengrong was present in the 2010 Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA) held in Singapore.
On June 22th, Vice President Hu Zhengrong attended the ICA opening conference Chindia, challenge to global communications and delivered the Keynote Speech entitled Dragon and Elephant, Who will win? Chindia in the eyes of Chinese netizens .
Vice President Hu Zhengrong, as the chairman of Chinese Association of Communication (CAC), led the group discussion Media Studies: The China Question and Chinas Perspective On June 25 th. Professor Chen Taowen from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Professor Gong Wenxiang from Peking University (PKU) and Professor Li Benqian from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) attended the discussion. The three scholars discussed the focus topic of Chinese Media Studies such as the construction of Chinas national image, cross-cultural communication and so on, and figured out the possibility of building China s characteristic communication theory.
As one of the most attractive session of the whole conference, the group discussion attracted more than 40 listeners. There were 7 sessions involving the problems of China, proving that communication study in China is gradually drawing the attention of the worlds academic circle and China s researchers on communication are becoming the mainstream of academic strengths.

A number of teachers from School of Television and Journalism, Liberal Arts Scientific Research Department, Communication Research Institute, School of Foreign Studies, Broadcasting and Television Research Centre attended the ICA annual conference.
The International Communication Association is an international academic association for the study of communication. The annual conference is a rare chance for the international communication academic world. The annual conference this year held in Singapore from 21th to 29th, June, was presided by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with nearly one hundred sessions and group discussions, hundreds of scholars from all around the world participated in it.
