From January 4 to January 5, SINOTRANS Eastern Co., Ltd., jointly with SINOTRANS Dajian, successfully loaded, at Changshu Port of Jiangsu, a large-size autogenous mill and a ball mill, weighing 2,000 and 1,200 tons respectively with both cargo and the vehicle included. That shows the specialized capability of SINOTRANS in transporting super-large equipment.
This task of roll-on/roll-off transport is an important operational link in the Western Australia Mining Project of SINOTRANS. The first batch of cargo transported by the same vessel included a set of autogenous mill and a set of ball mill, which are of the largest size in the record of the international shipping of equivalent equipment used in iron ore development. In them, the autogenous mill is 19.69, 14.90 and 13.98 meters in length, width and height respectively (16.98 in shipping height), with a dead weight of 1,487 tons and a gross weight of nearly 2,000 tons.
SINOTRANS Eastern Co., Ltd. is the general contractor of global logistics for the Citic Pacific Western Australia Iron Ore Project. In order to successfully transport the autogenous mill and the ball mill, the company carried out a great deal of work, including site selection for the modular base of the project, confirmation of the assembly site for follow-up equipment, especially the design, argumentation, optimization, selection of transporting equipment, and so on.
As the operator of the roll-on/roll-off transport, SINOTRANS unprecedentedly dispatched 6 tandems (including a total of 90 axes) of Nicholas hydraulic flatbeds to complete the task and set a new record of the company in terms of the one-piece weight of equipment. The equipment is being transported by 3 groups of 90-axis power vehicles, during which the technical difficulty of synchronously rolling on and rolling off equipment that weighs nearly 1,500 tons onto the vessel was successfully overcome for the first time.
It s told that the equipment is expected to reach a special dock in Cape Preston, Australia, for unloading large equipment of projects.
