(XJTLU, China - 7th Sep, 2010) With the completion of 2010's students enrollment, the newly opened Science Building is ready for new semester.
30th August was the first day all teachers moved into their new offices in the Science Building (Building 2).
Ms Hou Yike, of Campus Management Office, explained that except for the four teaching centres of foundational programmes (including English Language Centre etc), all other academic departments and faculties have been moved to the new building. More than 80 teachers will have their own offices in Building 2.
The new office is slightly smaller than the previous one, said Mr Liu-Evans, of Business, Economics and Management (BEM) Department, who has been working in XJTLU for two years, But I like the new book shelf and carpet a lot. I always enjoy my teaching here.
6th of September was the first day of the academic year for XJTLU, coinciding with the new building officially being put into use. Nearly one thousand students experienced this state-of-the-art building on their first day of the new semester.
He Dongfu, a second year student of Financial Mathematics took a long time to find his class room, the building is huge, like a maze, I will need more time to explore it. While Ma You, another second-year student held a different opinion: I went here last night to find my classroom in advance, so it was very easy for me to get there on time.
De Yihe, also a second year student, was very excited to see the new teaching block, The facilities here are amazing, new and very high-tech, he said. He was surprised when he saw the sockets beneath every seat. It is extremely useful for students carrying laptops with them.
Dr Cao Xuanwei of BEM Department who was lecturing Organisational Behaviours today said, I am a little tired after a long lecture. But the behaviour of the class was great, and the student attendance rate was very high. With new teaching facilities, upcoming lectures will be more interesting and more interactive.
The New library at 5th Floor of Block C was also opened to students. In addition, the underground student canteen will be ready by 10th September, providing both Chinese and Western foods.
