University Launches RMB 6m Fund to Promote Research Development

(XJTLU, China - 30th Dec) Recently, as one of the research projects benefiting from XJTLU's new Research Development Fund, Hardware Acceleration for Computational Finance, by Dr. Emmanuel Tadjouddine, from the Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering (CSSE), XJTLU, has been approved by the Research Development Fund Panel.

Thus Dr. Tadjouddine and his team will be granted RMB 70,000 research fund. Dr. Tadjouddine will complete the project in cooperation with Dr. Nan Zhang, Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering, Dr. Ming Xu, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and Dr. Lianfeng Liu, Department of Mathematical Sciences.

XJTLU aims to be a research-led international university. In order to promote the University s research development, it launches a Research Development Fund, with a special annual budget of RMB 5 million during 2010-2011, in order to create a best research environment in the University and to improve its comprehensive level in research.

Besides, XJTLU also provides a total sum of RMB 1 million Research Postgraduate Scholarships (PGR). The application may be made by the supervisor according to his/her research project and the student he/she is supervising. The fund may award full or part fee scholarships of up to RMB 50,000 annually. A scholarship is renewable for up to three years subject to satisfactory performance by the student.

XJTLU creates an annual research fund of RMB 6m, which is rare among higher institutions in mainland China and further manifests the University s resolution and confidence in research fields.
