President Su Zhiwu Met Meets with Vice-Chancellor Jasmon of University of Malaya

On the afternoon of May 12th, 2010, President Su Zhiwu met with the three-people delegation from the University of Malaya in Malaysia, including its Vice-Chancellor prof. Ghauth Jasmon and Qiu Wuping, Vice Dean of School of Engineering.

First, President Su welcomed the delegation from the University of Malaya on behalf of CUC. He was pleased to review his visit in December 2008 to the University of Malaya, and introduced the Malay Language Teaching program at CUC to Mr. Jasmon. President Su said the two universities have got much space in many fields for cooperation and he was willing to launch further discussion with Vice-Chancellor Jasmon about building friendly and cooperative relationships between the two universities. .
Vice-Chancellor Jsmon thanked President Su Zhiwu s hospitality. He said CUC enjoyed great popularity in the field of media education in China, and he made this visit with the hope of pushing forward more specific exchanges and cooperation with CUC.
During the talks, President Su and Vice-Chancellor Jasmon made detailed discussions focusing on the substantive exchange of the two universities. Vice-Chancellor Jasmon talked about the on-going Thousands of Students Exchange Program in the University of Malaya, and he hoped to carry out student exchanges with CUC. President Su introduced CUC s international curriculums, saying that our two universities could carry out student exchanges in related fields. Both sides agreed to sign the cooperation agreement as soon as possible, making communication and cooperation in the aspects of teacher exchanges, student exchanges, research cooperation, information exchanges, etc. in the related fields like media, economic, law, information engineering.
President Assistant Liu Liqun; Liu Jianbo, Dean of School of Information Engineering; Zhang Lili, Director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department; Wu Minsu ,Vice Dean of School of Foreign Studies, etc. attended the meeting.
In December 2008 President Su Zhiwu led a delegation to visit University of Malaya, and held talks with its senior leaders. Cooperation on teacher exchanges, student exchanges, research projects and other aspects were discussed by the two sides.
University of Malaya is a comprehensive university, which ranks first in Malaysia, top 200 in the world. It develops from King Edward VII College founded in 1905 and the Kolej Raffles College founded in 1929. On October 8, 1949, the two colleges merged and the University of Malaya was established. Now University of Malaya has 3200 full-time teachers, 13617 undergraduates, 5826 graduates, and more than 3000 international students.
