India and Pakistan were shaken by tremors in the early hours of this morning. The earthquake occurred at 1.23am and had a magnitude of 7.2. The quake was 1,020-kilometres west-southwest of Islamabad in Pakistan; tremors were felt in Dalbandin, Islamabad and Quetta (Pakistan), New Delhi, Jaipur and Dehradun (India), Zahedan (Iran) and the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
There are some Twitter accounts that state Dubai and Bahrain too experienced tremors, according to a report in eTurboNews.
No reports are in yet about damage or casualties.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) classifies earthquakes on the scale of 7.0-to-7.9 as major ; anything over 8.0 is classified as great .
