VICE PRESIDENT XING LONG GAVE THE FIRST CLASS TO FRESHMEN OF CHUMIN SCHOOL

In the morning of September 11, 2009, Shanxi University held a school-opening ceremony for cohort 2009 cum the military training mobilization rally in Hongqiu Stadium. Leaders of the university Qin Liangyu, Guo Guichun, Zhang Hanjing, Li Zhongren, Zhao HuaiZhou, Jia Suotang, Liu Weiqi, Liang Jiye, Gao Ce, Vice President of the Provincial CPC Party School Wang Lianhui, and the deputy director of Political Department of PLA 66016, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Peiguo attended the meeting and were seated on the rostrum. Heads of related functional offices and schools, together with nearly 5,000 new students, participated in the opening ceremony and rally. The ceremony was chaired by Vice President Xing Long.

The opening ceremony began at 8:30. President Guo Guichun, on behalf of the university, expressed the sincere congratulations and warm welcome to the new cohort 2009. He hoped the new comers could accumulate confidence and strength in this fertile land of Shanxi University to make a solid step and to take off here. He also hoped that they could devote their youth to the nation s prosperity and rejuvenation.
In the ceremony, teachers representative Wu Yaxin graduates representative Hu Yi, undergraduates representative Yao Jiani made speeches respectively.

Outstanding freshmen were awarded in the ceremony. University leaders granted 34 freshmen with awards and scholarships.
In the subsequent military training mobilization, the university deputy party secretary Li Zhongren delivered a mobilization speech. He asked all the students participating in the training to obey orders and commands, to devote themselves to military training, and to complete military training successfully. The deputy director of Political Department of PLA 66016, Lieutenant Colonel Cao Peiguo also delivered a speech to encourage the trainees to behave like real soldiers. He hoped that the trainees could keep improving their physical fitness through learning military skills, thus to lay a solid foundation for their future work and life.

The opening ceremony and military training mobilization rally was followed by a wonderful art show performed by teachers and students from schools of music and physical education.
