First China Int'l Marine Fair Held In Qingdao

Reporter An Hui) Under the auspices of 7 sponsors including the China Trade Promotion Association, the Ministry of Communications, the State Ocean Administration, the Water Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Physical Culture and the People's Government of Qingdao Municipality, and the assistance of China Shipowners' Association etc, the First China International Marine Fair was successfully held at the Qingdao Conference & Exhibition Center on July 15-18.

On the opening day, Zhou Guangzhao, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Chairman of the China Scientific & Technological Association cut the ribbon for the Fair. Mr. Ma Yue, Vice Chairman of the China Trade Promotion Association had visited our exhibition stand and signed his name for a souvenir in the company of Zhou Jiabin, Vice Mayor of Qingdao City, Chang Dechuan, Director of Qingdao Port Authority and Dong Jianjun, Vice President of Sinotrans and General Manager of Sinotrans Shandong.

Besides, he had also been strongly interested in the impressive topic, rich contents and magnificent design of our exhibition and gave it a firm applaud. The exhibition space of Sinotrans Head Office was awarded two important prizes by the organization committee of the Fair, namely the Prize for Excellent Organization and the Prize for Excellent Design.

The exhibition ground of the Head Office occupies over 280 m2. It is located in a salient position, and especially the program on the logistics development of Sinotrans as is shown on the TV wall consisted of a group of TV screens had attracted a large audience. The exhibition platform had fully displayed the general strength of Sinotans and its uniform CI image, promoted its modern logistics development strategy, operation concept and achievement in logistics service.

Besides, it had also publicized the full support given by Sinotrans to Beijing for the latter's bidding to host Olympic Games 2008, its close cooperation with the Beijing Olympic Games Bidding Committee, its gaining the title of Senior Sponsor of Beijing Olympic Games Bidding Committee and the general situation of its top 10 branch companies as well as its having built a good image as pursuer of superb service to society and won wide social acclaim.

During the period of exhibition, Sinotrans had also erected a super large outdoor advertisement board at the prosperous downtown area of Qingdao City, arranged archway and balloons on the conference & exhibition square and published congratulation advertisement on the title page of "2002' China Int'l Marine Fair" and, had achieved excellent promotion results.

According to statistics, about 30,000 people had visited the exhibition platform of Sinotrans, and over 20 groups of business organizations and individuals had conducted business consultation and business talks at the Sinotrans exhibition stand. Many central and local media organizations had made salient reports on the characteristics of Sinotrans exhibition stands such as those of Qingdao Daily, Qingdao TV Station, H.

K. Dagongbao, Qingdao Finance & Economy, the State Ocean Newspaper and China Shipping Gazette etc. Qingdao Daily also published a special interview with Dong Jianjun, the Vice President of Sinotrans. Zhou Jiabin, Vice Mayor of Qingdao City had particularly met with Dong Jianjun and officers from COSCO, expressing his thanks to the two corporations for their long-term contributions to the development of Qingdao City and hoping for better cooperation in the future.

During the period of exhibition, the Head Office had also organized representatives from ten of the coastal branch corporations including SINOMARINE, Sinotrans Container Lines and those in Tiajin, Liaoning, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Fujian and Guangdong to introduce their development situation, distribute brochures, and to visit and conduct business exchanges with each other.

Some branch corporations paid high attention to the Fair, and senior officers from SINOMARINE and other branch companies in Fujian, Zhejiang, Jilin and Heilongjiang had personally attended the exhibition for learning experiences from other participants.

More than 400 enterprises from 16 countries and regions around the world, including the well-known COSCO, MAERSK, P&O Nedlloyd, APL, MOL and NYK etc, and over 10 domestic provinces and cities had taken part in the expos, with the total exhibition space reaching more than 20,000m2.

During the Fair period, there had also been held the China International Ocean Science and Technology Exhibition and China International Water Sports Equipment & Water Entertainment Leisure Facilities Exhibition.
